Hero of Music: Michael Jackson

Even now, as I lament Michael Jackson's death, I feel so blessed and so privileged to have experienced the music of a genius. A true man with a genuine heart, a heart filled with more splendor and beauty than most. I became enamored with Michael Jackson at a young age-- He wowed me with "Thriller," and warmed my heart with "Will You Be There," and "Heal the World." And then again, (smile) Michael wasn't afraid to turn up the heat with "BAD," and "Dirty Diana."

Michael's brazen sense of style also intrigued me. Who was this man in the mirror? This man who captivated the world with his sweet, melodic voice, dressed in a black leather jacket and sequined white glove? As time went on, it became so apparent to me. Michael Jackson is a hero. A hero of music. Through out the years, he continued to rescue the pitiful state of music as we know it, and his thought-provoking lyrics and melodic voice, (the voice of an angel,)will continue to fascinate and entertain even until the ends of the earth. Michael Jackson-- Musical Genius. Peacemaker. Trailblazer. He is LEGEND.

One of my absolute favorites. . . Michael Jackson singing "Will You Be There" live.

VIBE NO MORE. . .

As a journalist, I am completely devastated by this news: “Vibe magazine, the urban-music magazine founded in 1993 by Quincy Jones, is the latest victim of the media recession. An assistant in the office of editor in chief Danyel Smith, confirmed that the title is ceasing publication. No further information was immediately available.”

I also heard that VIBE’s P.R. spokeswoman, Tracy Nguyen, said the Vibe staff was formally notified in a meeting at 2 p.m. and that she did not know how many people would be laid off as a result of the closure.

This recession is hitting the world hard, and the only security we have is God's favor. . .

Imma Take Out the TRASH!!!

I am so feelin' Letoya Luckett's hot new single, "She Ain't Got!" This song is sick! So sick I decided to post the video and all of the lyrics for ya'll. . . Letoya's album "Lady Love," (production with Madd Scientist, Pharrel Williams, and Polow da Don,) is slated to debut on August 25th, and if this single is any indication, Letoya's coming HARD. . .

Ne-yo: All Grown Up. . .

OK, so this is interesting. . . The BET Awards was all about being coupled up: I mean, you had Jay and Bey, Kanye and Amber Rose, and now Ne-yo and Tenille. This couple have been on and off again for a minute, and it's cool to see that Ne-yo is finally owning up to his relationship with his lady love. Big ups to this new couple, as they were seen being lovely dovey the entire night at the BET Awards! Good to know some men grow up! LOL

The Fabulous & Not So Fabulous (2009 BET AWARDS)

Janet Jackson moved the crowd as she fought back her own tears during her touching remembrance of her brother, the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, at this year's BET Awards. Janet reflected passionately, "To you all, Michael is an icon, but to us, he is family."
Michael and Janet, two gifted icons in their own rights, were inseparable.
The lovely Keri Hilson shined in this sequined tube dress, and proved that she is a superwoman as she took home the Best New Artist Award!
The Dynaminc Duo: Beyonce' glistens in Balmain, (although I expected a lot more,) alongside space queen, Amber Rose, and Rap phenomenon, Kanye West.
Amerie is pure elegance! Classy!! Flawless!!
Ciara channelled Michael Jackson with this double-breasted vintage jacket and did so with pride. During the show, she sang her own simple rendition of Michael Jackson's classic, "Change the World."
Alicia Keyes won a humanitarian award alongside Wycelf, (which was well deserved in my book,) and looked absolutely enchanting in this Grecian themed mini dress.
Ne-yo and Jaime Fox ripped the stage with their soulful rendition of the MJ ballad,
"I'll be There."
The incomparable Jaime Fox
The handsome DRAKE (love that boy!) alongside Lil' Wayne performing every-woman's-anthem-right-now-including-mine, SMASH hit, "The Best I Ever Had."
I know it's really the other way around; Monica and Keyshia Cole! I must say, Monica is back and better than ever! Is it just me, but did she out sing, I mean, outsang Keyshia Cole? Wowsers. Monica ripped it! I don't know what it is--Keyshia always clams up during her live performances; but she looked fabulous though!
Oh lawd. Joe Jackson. I swear he is eating up the attention surrounding Michael Jackson's death like fruit cake. . . He couldn't help but mention his new group, that afforded Michael's approval before his passing as he walked the red carpet. It's a bit much, Joe. . . TONE IT DOWN! IT'S NOT ABOUT YOU! It never was.
Bald Cassie. Nice dress, but the hair? The hair deserved two fines, and a trip to see my good friend and celebrity hair stylist, Dr. Boogie!!! LOL
