From the Editor at Large of Iconography the Magazine. . .

Things are moving along quite nicely over here at Iconography Magazine, and as we gear up to release the Thickest Issue Ever! I wanted to inform all of our loyal fashionistas about the exciting new issue to come. . .

Giving something fresh and new to the fashionistas of the world.

Join Iconography as it sprinkles its magic fairy dust, transporting you into the world of haute couture.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

February 28, 2010 - Tis Almost Fairy Time! Iconography the Magazine will be waving its magic wand for the Spring/Summer release of a Mid Summer Night’s Dream.Iconography will make fantasy fashionable, bring flights of the imagination to reality and touch on iconic childhood desires. Join Iconography as it sprinkles its magic fairy dust, transporting you into the world of haute couture. Couture fashion is somewhat overlooked in the world of mainstream fashion. It’s not the everyday prêt-à-porter that you find in your local mall, and the connection between couture and everyday practicality is not easily discernable. Custom made and uniquely created, couture fashion is an art derived from talent and imagination and judged by its originality and creativity. Couture is the meeting place of fantasy and fashion; a sight of normalcy only inside the fashion houses in which garments are created.

“We will be merging fashion and fantasy, bringing fairytale to life with this issue. We will go beyond the norm in our Spring/Summer issue. Who or what’s it going to be? I guess you will have to wait to see. Will it be Little Red Riding Hood, The Princess Bride, Sleeping Beauty or Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs? I think we will leave it up to our readers. We will tell a story like no other. This will be our most creative issue yet.” Aaron Williams, Editor in Chief.

The Spring/Summer, titled A Mid Summer Night’s Dream, issue of Iconography will feature coverage of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Feature articles and photographers to be announced. Iconography the Magazine has more than 250,000 readers in 6 countries.

Doris. . . Is That You?! 80 Year Old Woman Going to Jail. . . Again

Well, as incredulous and sad as this sounds; an 80 year old woman by the name of Doris Thompson, ransacked a medical office in Torrence, California, and was sentenced to three years in prison. Sounds crazy, right? Sad, but true. This is my third piece to contribute to BV Black Spin, and boy did it make headlines, as it is my very first world news coverage piece to make the front main page on AOL BLACK VOICES, as the #2 "popular" blog post on BV Black Spin! And as excited as I am by it, the story itself is not one to celebrate. Check out the sad, yet comical story exclusively on AOL Black Voices right here.
God Bless, Doris Thompson.

And To Think It All Began With a Dream. . .

As a little girl the same story replayed over and over in my head. . .

I would see myself sitting in high places with God by my side. . .

But as a little girl the dream was a mere dream. . .

Then one day the dream manifested itself in reality. . .

And one word that only comes to mind: GOD.

When I was nineteen years old, about to embark on my first college experience, my college admissions essay was written about my inspirational figures, people I admired and aspired to be like. I wrote about my two sources of inspiration--The first portion was about God, the second, was about my life-long favorite designer, the iconic Tracy Reese. In my essay, I said that if I could ever create a [ fashion brand ] it would be under the same mantra as Tracy Reese--elegant, refined apparel, real clothes made for real women.

Now, 7 years later, I met Tracy Reese at New York Fashion Week. I was speechless, starstruck even!

I got to speak with her, interview her, touch her! She was real! Look at God!! (only He could make something like this happen!)

I should have known that God had something special in store during my trip, because from the moment I stepped onto the train, I had a mere thought: "I'm so hungry." And as I took to my seat, a mother and her children sat across from me. The mother looked at my outfit and said, 'wow, you look great, you must be going somewhere special, 'are you hungry? Do you want a sand which?'

I kid you not.

And each and every day I stepped inside the tents, a new journey awaited me, courtesy of J-E-S-U-S!

I got to hang with Tony Cohen and his entire team back stage. . .(and he even introduced me to his family!)

But God's blessings didn't just stop there--I was honored to attend triple the shows I did last year. . .Tracy Reese, Tony Cohen, Georges Chakra, Carlos Miele, Irina S., Vassilios Kostetsos, and many others!
And I wasn't the only one blessed to attend New York Fashion Week; my fashion writers attended some of the hottest shows as well: D.A.M. MAGAZINE attended Christian Siriano's Fall 2010 show, Perry Ellis, Venexiana by Kati Stern, Brian Reyes, Tibi, Port 1961, Cocoa & Breezy and many many more!

The Fall 2010 fashions were as lustrous as they were beautiful, and I was granted the opportunity to sit second row at a show, amongst the elite editors from Vogue, WWD, and Elle!

And as always, I was elated to have the opportunity to bring my bestie, Kam, along the way!

And to think, it all began as a dream. . . .I never would have imagined that in 7 years God would bring my dreams into manifestation. (There is something about God and the number 7!)

Completion.

I thank God for all that he's done, and I can't wait to see, (Lord willing,) what will come to pass in the next 7 years.

This by no means is a boast on me, it's a boast on God! Let's all continue to greatness! (Dena Tyson voice :) God Bless!
Kisses,

E
